I've mentioned before that I love breakfast buffets... So you'll be pleased to know that the one at Radisson Blu Resort, where I stayed for the duration of the South Pacific Food & Wine Festival, did not disappoint!

Blu Restaurant & Bar, and the pool

The festival schedule often didn't start until 10am, hence with breakfast at my own leisure, I ended up spending over a healthy hour here every morning!

Not only did they have crispy bacon on the BBQ, but they had pikelets and waffles, an abundance of local fruits, a juice bar, all of your usual continental breakfast things, and even sparkling wine in the fridge!

Yes, sparking wine, just incase you fancied a sparkling breakfast!

So here are the waffles, in plain and chocolate, the pikelets, and some idli, which is a popular South-Indian steamed rice cake. This was amazing with the coconut chutney!

There's also bircher muesli, cheeses, some smoked meats and various yoghurts...

And all-you-can-drink bubbly and sparkling water!

Plus I absolutely loved the variety of fruits - there was pineapple, banana, guava, coconut, pawpaw and watermelon!

I sat in a different spot every day, alternating between the outdoor space, the indoor space, and an airconditioned room! The service is so delightful and this resort is SO kid-friendly, I was taken by surprise at how many young families were here each morning. Shouldn't these kids be at school?!?

Anyway, I quickly learned that the peak period was around 9am so we tried our best to avoid eating around then!

Here's a glimse of some of my plates:

It's obvious that local Fijians don't eat like this, but elaborate breakfast buffet affairs are such a treat for food-obsessed travelers like myself! My next Fiji Friday post sees me finally leaving resort life at Denarau Island as Fiji-based Australian chef, Lance Seeto, takes me on a tour of Nadi Municipal Market to see 'real' Fiji! Stay tuned :)

The Super Breakfast Buffet is priced at $39 FJD (approx $21 AUD).
