If I ever open a cafe, it would be exactly like this. It would be casual and cosy with a romantic charm; there would be fabulous and affordable breakfast and lunch options served on pretty plates, and there would be a gorgeous display of freshly baked sweet treats.
The Hardware Societe sums up my perfect kind of cafe. Plus, the lovely service just tops it off.

I love my scallops and couldn't resist having the scallops salad. There's a generous number of plump juicy seared scallops with potato rosti, beetroot caponata, jamon and watercress ($17). It's just so much awesomeness on this one plate!

So of course I had to get some macarons take-away for later.
The honey and lavender flavour turns out to be the best, closely followed by the lemon, and the raspberry & vanilla.

It's a shame The Hardware Societe is closed for the holidays, but if you're in Melbourne after 23rd July, then don't forget to add this quirky little cafe to your itinerary!

I SO wanted to go here when we were in Melbs over Easter but they were shut - so so sad!
i went here, loved the atmosphere!
I've heard so much about this place that I must visit next time I'm in Melbourne.
It seems it's almost worth a trip to Melbourne to eat here. I keep hearing such wonderful things and those Macarons look amazing.
arrrr i still need to go to this place!

Love love LOVE Melbourne eats! Cant wait to get bak down there. I'll def hit up this place :)
I love this place. We visited there in May and I ordered the Duck Confit. It was superb. My partner ordered the Spanakopita and it was deliciously perfect. We were lucky we only had to wait 5 minutes for a table. The waiter was also genuinely sunny to every patron.
