Oaks Pacific Blue Resort, Port Stephens

Now that we're more than half way through July, you may be dreading the fact that most of the public holidays have passed and that the Christmas break is months away. If there's one thing I'm good at, it is taking regular short trips.

Never underestimate what a weekend away could do for you!

Just before I jump into a mini-series of blog posts on favourite eating spots in Port Stephens, let me start by sharing with you, one of the best (and most affordable) resorts in New South Wales.

Oaks Pacific Blue is a relatively new resort located in Salamander Bay at Nelson Bay in NSW's North Coast and is only a 2.5 hour drive away from Sydney. Its luxurious serviced apartments, townhouses and hotel rooms makes it the perfect home away from home.

Oaks Pacific Blue Resort

What makes Oaks Pacific Blue Resort so spectacular is their lagoon-style pool which encircles the entire resort and at 480m in length, it is apparently the longest pool in Australia! Some of the apartments and town houses have their own plunge pools as well, and there are also several man-made beaches and spas dotted around the lush tropical perimeter.

Prices start from just $114 for a hotel room or for $275, you can get a spacious two storey 3 bedroom apartment with full kitchen and laundry facilities and your own private plunge pool!

So, don't forget to check back regularly over the next week for new posts on my fave eating spots in Port Stephens!

I LOVE Port Stephens too and we used to duck away there for a quick weekend whenever we could. We usually stay in Nelson Bay but Salamander Bay is gorgeous. My most favourite thing? Quad Biking on Stockton Beach!

Nice one! Wish I could duck away there more often... I've even considered moving into one of the townhouses in this resort permanently!

I love Nelson Bay, it's such a pretty area! That resort looks awesome too, last time I went with a whole bunch of people, and we stayed at some cruddy and ancient house, but I know where I'll be staying next time!

Haha, I've done the same too... I love that this resort is priced so well and is a ton more luxurious than those old holiday houses nearby

hi. i was browsing through ur blog and now im considering going!! just wanted to ask for advice. which room did u pick? im thinking if the full kitchen is worth it, or if i'll end up eating out everyday. any ideas?

I've only ever stayed at the 'hotel rooms' as I tend to book last minute and the townhouses/apartments are always booked out. For a short stay, I usually eat out every day, but if you're planning on staying there for anything more than a couple of days, I think the full kitchen would be convenient...

Hey Jen
Did you end up blogging about your favourite eating spots in Port Stephens? I cant seem to find those blogs...I am going in a couple of and would love to read your recommendations.

Hi Lauren, you'll find all of them under 'North Coast'- http://www.jenius.com.au/australia-nsw-north-coast
