I've had sweet potato chips before - the South-East Asian variety that is thinly sliced and deep-fried. The crunch of these are unbelievably addictive.
McCain Foods recently released a new product, Sweet Potato SuperFries, which unlike the ones I have just mentioned, are a much less-naughty snack or side dish (as they are oven-baked as opposed to deep-fried).

Available in convenient freezer bags with an easy-tear feature, these chips have a light coating to ensure they are crunchy every time and they're already flavoured with sea salt.
Preparation is as easy as baking in a pre-heated oven for 20 minutes. I like my chips well-done so left them in there slightly longer. Here's what they look like straight out of the pack:

And how do they taste?
The light coating really helps achieve an extra level of crispiness which I usually don't get from oven-baking ordinary cuts of sweet potato.

The crinkle cut variety is crunchier than the thin cut, which is an obvious result based on its ridged texture. They both are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and exhibit a rich and robust flavour which requires no additional seasoning. For the gourmands out there, feel free to serve with tzatziki, aioli or chutney.

My verdiect: Loved it! They're so convenient and versatile; a great gourmet addition to the frozen foods category.
NEW McCain Sweet Potato SuperFries Thin Cut and Crinkle Cut varieties are available in your supermarket freezer, RRP $3.89 for 450g. For more information, visit http://www.mccain.com.au/sweet-potato-super-fries.aspx.

Just saw the ad for this yesterday. How cool is it that this product doesn't contain artificial flavors or preservatives. Big thumbs up to McCain's for once :)
They're also cholesterol free and each serve contains 42% of the recommended daily intake of Vitamin A! :)
i actually found the thin style crispier than the crinkle cut but perhaps i needed to cook them longer? you've got the price as RRP $389 for 450g hehe that's a wee expensive :-)
Hahaha, oops, thanks for picking that up!
After seeing the ads I had some sweet pottao on the weekend to make some soup, was tempted to cut some up and pop them into the oven or deep frier but they all ended up in my soup, better for me I think.
LOL... these are pretty satisfying for something not deep-fried but i'm sure your soup was even more so delicious ;)
I don't like the idea of them being in a coating. I make my own at home.
My dad was nagging my mum to buy him these so she did.
They were a rip-off...they got soggy easily and so many pieces ended up burnt and edible (like in your photograph).
But I do prefer them over the normal potato chips.
