Kingsley Steakhouse

There isn't a worst feeling than being cheated... and I would least expect it from a place as renouned as Kingsley Steakhouse. It started off well, as with all relationships. Kingsley appeared popular and I was intrigued. It's menu boasted lavish prices... so I set my expectations right up high.

And then starters arrived...

Starter for two... / Kingsley Steakhouse

Starter for two... flash fried salt & pepper calamari with lemon and olive oil; spiced duck ravioli with caramelised hazelnuts and champagne sauce; seared sea scallops with mustard fruits, snow pea leaves and lemon nage

...followed by mains, where the serving sizes and lack of oomph broke my heart.

Risotto of Morton Bay bugs with shaved fennel, lemon oil and pecorino cheese

There's always a bitter sweet ending. The brulee looked delectable. The glazed shell looked as though it had been burnt the right way... through my mind, I fantasized about the nutty walnut flavours which would be entangled within the luscious cream... How wrong I was. The brulee was average. The caramelised sugar was borderlining soft. It had clearly been standing out alone for too long...

Sarah & David's wedding

| 4 Comments | No TrackBacks

You know you've grown older once you have attended the first wedding from your circle of friends...

Saturday afternoon was beautiful and crispy. The sky cleared up from Friday's rain and the sun was radiantly bathing us in warmth. We attended an awesome ceremony at the Baulkham Hills Hillsong Church... and later, hit the dance floor at Ambassador Lounge, Fairfield. Congratulations Sarah & David!

I can't believe the big day is over. Wonder who's turn it is to get hitched next?

I might as well try break the record and update this site with an astounding 4 posts in 1 day! So what if 2 of them have nothing to do with food?

You may recall, that a couple of weeks back, I went through an obsession with Korean food. Kimchi, soups, fatty pork rashers, BBQ marinated beef, salads of sweetened mash potato, bean sprouts and shallots are some of things I had craved.

CeCi is a small authentic Korean restaurant on The Boulevarde in Strathfield. The interior is adorningly cute with pink walls, floral wallpaper in shades of purple, blue and green and framed cartoon prints.

CeCi Korean Restaurant - metal chopsticks

I have never understood the Korean usage of metal chopsticks. They're heavy, slippery and heat-up rather easily.

CeCi Korean Restaurant - condiments

Complimentary condiments of chestnut jelly, kimchi, beansprouts and caramelised potatoes.

CeCi Korean Restaurant - interior

The pork and kimchi soup was deliciously spicy. Tofu, kimchi and slices of fatty pork floated in a vibrant red soup.

CeCi Korean Restaurant - seafood soup

Seafood Soup

The seafood soup was the exact opposite. It was filled with delicate flavours of blue swimmer crab, red dates, pipis, water chestnut, tofu, prawns and mushroom. The broth was so light and cleansing. Yummo!

Sarah's bridal shower

At her new unfurnished place, there were blueberry and choc-chip cupcakes, cheese, crackers and dips, lingerie and more. So while i'm recovering from this loss of appetite, my persistence to photograph everything I eat has died. Here's the only photo I ended up taking -
